Special Olympics Track Club Shines at SONB Summer Games
Six members of the Summerside Special
Olympics Track Club travelled to Moncton on Saturday July 8th to
participate in the New Brunswick Special Olympics Summer Games.
They joined athletes from across New Brunswick in a spirited day
of competition. Team Summerside collected 24 medals in total. Trevor
Matthews, from Alberton, and Charles Beaulieu and Paul Phillips
from Summerside tied for the medal lead with five medals each. Newcomer
Jamie Gallant and veterans Gladys Wilson and Paul Saunders, all
from Summerside, each won four medals.
Coaches Shelley Gaudet and Janet Bradshaw and team manager Colleen
Matthews were very impressed with the team's excellent results.
