Law Enforcement Torch Recently Held
Law Enforcement Officers from across PEI teamed up to support Special Olympics PEI for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. The run took place in two locations on Oct. 4th beginning at 2 PM. In Prince County, runners started the 14 KM run at the Kensington Police Department and finished at the Summerside Police Department. In Queens County, the 8 KM run began at the RCMP office in Stratford and finished at UPEI.

SOPEI would like to thank all who participated or showed support through pledges. This year the run raised $700 for athletes with an intellectual disability. Also, Law Enforcement Torch Run representative Cindy Wicks deserves a round of applause for all of her hard work coordinating the event

SOPEI would like to thank the LETR for their continued support in providing sport opportunities to those with an intellectual disability. The LETR shows their support year round, through various activities and fundraisers, including this run every fall.

Staples - Give a Dollar, Share a Dream
Come out to support Special Olympics in your Community at your local Staples. Great events will be running over the course of the "Give a Dollar. Share a Dream" campaign. The folks in Summerside locked their general manager Rod up for the entire day, asking people to donate a dollar a minute to keep him in there. Click here to view pictures from the Summerside and Charlottetown events!! It's through innovative efforts like this that they raised over $400.00 that day alone! We can't wait to see Charlottetown's effort to top them.

Look for Special Olympics PEI athletes in stores over the next couple of Saturdays. They will be there to lend a hand and thank those who choose to donate. So keep visit your local Staples and see what else the staff has cooked up to raise funds and fun for Special Olympics PEI Don't forget to donate at your nearest Staples Business Depot And remember proceeds raised on the island, stay on the island. Your dollars will help us provide grassroots programs for Islanders from Tignish to Souris.

Special Olympics PEI has joined forces with the three other Special Olympics chapters in the Atlantic Provinces to make SOAR (Special Olympics Atlantic Region) for a fantastic Car Lottery and Awareness Week. With the help of Toyota Canada, CTV Atlantic, Airmiles and Nudgeworks, we will be giving away a brand new, 2007 Toyota Camry LE! Tickets for this car draw will be available starting in the next few weeks at the Special Olympics office in your area for $5.00. Click here to read the Rules and Regulations.

We are taking this opportunity to spread our Special Olympics message and promote what our organization can do for those with an intellectual disability through sport. The winner of the Car Lottery will be drawn on December 15, 2006 on Live at 5 on CTV. Four secondary prizes will be awarded in the days leading up to the main draw. These secondary prizes will consist of tropical vacations for two, valued at over $2500 each.

Stay tuned to CTV programming for our Awareness Week running in October.
