- Five Pin Bowling Provincials
It is Bowling Provincial time again! This
year’s tournament is a qualifying event for the 2010 Special
Olympics Canada National Summer Games in London, Ontario.
On May 9th, all bowling programs in Prince
County will come together at Credit Union Place in Summerside from
11:00am - 5:00pm to bowl with an Awards Banquet and dance to follow
until 9:00pm.
On May 23rd, Bowlers in Queens and Kings
County will gather at the Murphy Recreation Center from 9:00am -
5:00pm to bowl with an Awards Banquet and dance to follow until
9:00pm.

Although the focus is on competing, athletes
and coaches also have the opportunity to meet other fellow competitors
and partake in a Special Olympics dance. To make sure that every
Special Olympics PEI athlete that participates in bowling has the
opportunity to compete in the Provincials, the cost to each athlete
is minimal.
Special Olympics Prince Edward Island is
a non-profit, charitable, sport organization dedicated to enriching
the lives of Islanders with and intellectual disability through
sport. Special Olympics is important and relevant – not just
to athletes and their families, but to PEI. We know that through
the power of sport, our movement transforms the lives of people
with intellectual disabilities. But, we also know that our movement
unites everyone by fostering a sense of community and building civil
society.

By joining the 5-Pin Provincial Championships, you will be supporting
your community’s Special Olympics athletes and helping us
offset the cost of the Bowling Provincials, which in turn, will
allow us to provide more sporting opportunities to athletes on a
year round basis. A small donation to the 5-Pin Bowling Provincials
will go a long way in supporting this annual tournament.
